Synopsis for the 1st Story
The issue begins with the team trying escape from the giant spider creatures. Ms. Popper and Bob take off running as Brit is swarmed under. Becky lets off a blast of electricity which allows Brit to break free. Brit grabs a pipe and kills the last one that is around them.
With a second to catch their breath, Brit asks Ms. Popper if they can get home. She doesn't know what deflected them to this world but she thinks she can get them back if she can concentrate. More spiders arrive and Brit tells her to concentrate while they fight them off. They give her enough time and she teleports them back to the Pentagon basement in their own world.
They are immediately confronted by security robots that Donald helped design. They also notice that some of the giant spiders were teleported in with them. The security robots concentrate their fire on the spiders and Brit and his team are happy to let the two sides fight each other while they head out to find Britney.
Becky locates Britney and relays her position to Brit. He heads out but Donald says he's going to stay to fight off the spiders and robots. A couple of the robots tackle Donald but he tells them that they were designed to be compatible with him. He switches to conversion mode and melds the two robots onto himself to form robot armor. He starts taking out the rest of the security robots.
Up a level, Brit has Becky zap the lock on a door and smashes it in. The door lands on top of Bent Franklin and Becky zaps him too. Brit pulls Britney off of a lab table just before they can start cutting on her. Slitter tries to tell him he's interfering with government business but Brit just punches him in the face.
Brit and Britney get ready to beat Slitter to death but before they can one of the spiders comes into the room and bites him in the leg. Slitter collapses and starts foaming at the mouth. Brit and Britney walk off and leave him to die.
A little while later after Donald finishes killing all the spiders, Cecil teleports in to see what happened. Bob is itching a spider scratch and nobody notices that Bent Franklin is escaping holding what looks to be the brain from the brain gun.
Donald gives Cecil a briefing on the situation. Slitter gets wheeled past them on a cart while they are talking. Turns out he isn't dead but is still foaming at the mouth and can't speak. Cecil seems mad that Slitter isn't healthy enough to threaten.
Brit tells Cecil that he's taking Britney to the hospital since Slitter pumped her full of so many drugs. Cecil asks if he's coming back to work. Brit tells him yes, this is the second rogue agent that has went after him and his family and he won't let it happen again.
At the hospital, Brit catches Britney up on what happened to him and asks if she's sticking around for awhile. He wants her to meet Jessica and Brittany, Jr. She tells him yes because he actually scared her this time thinking he might be dead. He tells her he wants to see his wife and heads out.
After Brit leaves, Britney tells someone they can come out now. The guy asks how she can stand being around someone like Brit. She replies that she likes Brit's company as opposed to her uninvited guest. The guy asks for a truce and says he just wanted to check and make sure she was okay.
Britney wants to know if he had anything to do with what happened to Brit. He tells her that he did not touch their brother. Britney asks what he's been up to and we see his thoughts/memories; He's lurking unseen in the White Room as Slitter forces Brit to agree to be experimented on, he's the one that launched the rocket at Brit that jogged his memories, and he was the one that sent the team in to drug Jessica and he took Brittany, Jr. He just tells Britney that he's been busy.
On an island in the Pacific Rim, we see a secret base. A woman that looks like Brit's ex-wife Susan comes out of the base. She's wearing what looks like Robot's head on her arm.
The head speaks to her and tells her that their advanced agent has delivered the components and they need to start construction immediately. It tells her that the signal hasn't changed so the event hasn't occurred on this world yet. Susan says she's hopes they're in time and that they can't be tracked to this universe.
Susan turns and addresses someone else. She says this is a covert operation and nobody is to leave the base without permission. We see that she is talking to Invincible, Wolf-Man, and Tech Jacket. They appear to be from a different dimension. This must be who the alternate dimension Immortal sent through the portal before he was killed in the previous issue.
At Brit's house, he walks in the door and finds Jessica sleeping on the couch with Brittany, Jr. He doesn't want to wake her so he kisses her on the cheek and curls up next to her to sleep.
