In the late 1940's, Charlie Parish is a washed up writer who hasn't been able to write since World War II. He teams up with Gil Mason, a writer who has been blacklisted from Hollywood, to secretly write his screen plays.
After a wild party one night, he finds a movie star, Valeria Sommers, dead in her apartment. He finds she had been strangled and sneaks out. He quickly finds corruption in Hollywood as it's spun as a suicide. Charlie must continue to write and not find himself too deep in with the corruption as he tries to survive the dog-eat-dog world of movie making.
