Synopsis for the 1st Story
The issue begins with Brit waking up on the couch at The Ladies Room. His friend that he gave the club to walks in and greets him and wonders why he's sleeping at the club and not at home.
Flashback to the previous night. Jessica wakes up and screams when she sees Brit cuddled up next to her on the couch. She starts crying and says that Donald told her he was dead. She was going to put his ashes on the mantle.
Brit tells her that he is not dead and to calm down. Now Jessica gets angry and wonders if he's trying to mess with her head for the divorce. She says she signed the papers and he didn't have to do all this. Brit seems a bit surprised to hear about a divorce and tells her that it wasn't him.
Brit explains that he was kidnapped, tortured, and cloned. The past year wasn't him, it was one of the clones they replaced him with. He escaped somehow but he doesn't remember everything. It was the clone that died. He had some kind of amnesia and was out of his mind. Once he came to his senses he went to see Donald.
Jessica gets angry when she hears that he went to see Donald first. She spent a year having a clone treating her and their son like crap and then going through hearing he died and when he gets back he doesn't even go see her, he goes to see Donald. Putting the job first again.
Brit tries to explain but Jessica just starts throwing things at him. She says she has to watch the news and see things like alien invasions and know her husband is in the middle of it. She has to go through things like being pregnant and having to run into a bunker when your house is attacked. And she thought that clone was him and let it touch her.
She demands to know where he's been. He tells her he doesn't know. She thinks he's lying but he assures her that Slitter messed with his head and took away his memories. He had no control and has no idea where he was.
Now she feels bad for him and says she's sorry for what was done to him. She softens towards him but says she needs some time to process everything and asks him to leave.
Back to the next (current) day, Brit gets done telling this story to his friend. Suddenly Ms. Popper teleports in and tells Brit that there is an emergency and he needs to come with her.
A couple of college age guys are walking down the street talking about getting some food. One of them looks up and notices something but the other guy isn't listening because he notices Ms. Popper and Brit teleport in next to them. Ms. Popper is asking Brit to help Bob, something happened to him while they were out on a dinner date.
Ms. Popper points up at the same thing that caught the one guy's attention. It is a blue and red guy crawling in the middle of a spider web that is spun between a couple of the buildings. The one college guy says he thinks he knows the spider guy and takes off.
Brit climbs up the web and asks Bob what's going on. Bob's body has turned blue and he has fangs and his red hands have claws. Brit guesses that he got infected by some kind of spider disease from that world that they had accidentally teleported to.
A creature answers Brit from Bob's body. He created the web to draw the attention of superpowered people. He's looking for a better body to possess. He tells Brit that he's too old, he wants something younger and more exciting.
The one college guy flies up at this point in costume. It turns out that he is the superhero Invincible. Invincible goes to greet the creature but then realizes that it isn't the person he thought it was. The creature that is possessing Bob is much more impressed with Invincible's body and powers.
Brit gets a bad feeling and tells Invincible to get out of there. Invincible recognizes Brit from a photo that Donald keeps in his wallet. Brit tells him to leave again. Invincible tries to tell him that he knows what he's doing, but Bob grabs him before he can move and gives him a kiss. The creature crawls out of Bob's mouth and into Invincible's.
The creature is very pleased by the massive amount of power that Invincible has. Brit yells at him to fight the possession. The creature grabs Brit by the throat and tells him that he now has the power to make him pay for killing all of the other spider creatures previously.
The creature throws Brit and he crashes into a car. Ms. Popper pops in and lets him know that she evacuated a four block radius. Brit tells her that he needs her to get someone for him.
Brit drives the car into a building, making it collapse on top of Invincible. It doesn't hurt him but it breaks the creature's concentration a little. This allows Invincible to regain control temporarily. He tells Brit to keep up the distractions and break it's concentration.
Brit tells Invincible to keep fighting it and drives the car up a ramp and launches it into Invincible. Ms. Popper arrives with Becky. Brit ask Ms. Popper for some help and she teleports in a bunch of cars that fall from the sky and land on top of Invincible. The creature tries to fly away but Invincible is fighting it and stays in place to let the cars hit him.
Brit is able to get close enough to him for Becky to zap him with a bolt of electricity. This gives Invincible the upper hand in his fight for control and he's able to force the creature out of his mouth. Once it hits the ground Brit stomps on it and kills the creature.
Brit asks Invincible if he is okay. He says he needs some mouthwash and he is disgusted by the things he saw in the creature's mind that it wanted to do to the planet. Invincible thanks Brit for basically beating on him enough to break the creature's concentration. Brit says causing property damage is his specialty.
Invincible apologizes for attacking Brit and asks if this kind of thing ever stops being weird. Brit says it usually just gets stranger. He compliments Invincible and says that he reminds him of his father Omni-Man in the good ways. Invincible is surprised that Brit knew his dad and Brit says that he'll tell him about it sometime. Brit has Ms. Popper take Invincible to the Pentagon so medical can double check that everything is okay.
Later at the hospital, Britney is on the phone with Brit demanding that he get her out of there. He says he'll pick her up the next day. Their conversation is interrupted by an alien shooting Britney with a laser gun through her hospital room window.
Trivia
Invincible initially thought that Bob was Spider-Man. See Marvel Team-Up #14 for his adventures with the Marvel superhero.
