HistoryEdit

Lori met a guy named Jeff in high school, with whom she was close friends. Jeff invited her to a new year's party where she met Jeff's brother, Rick Grimes, who was attending college for police administration at the time.[1] Lori and Rick fell in love pretty quick, and years later they married and had a son, Carl.

They lived happily in Cynthiana, Kentucky, until Rick received a gunshot wound that left him in a coma.[2] Rick's friend, Shane, took care of Lori and Carl in the meantime. Shortly after, the Zombie Apocalypse started, and Lori, Carl, and Shane decided to go to Atlanta looking for safety with Lori's parents. However, the city was overrun, and Lori started to feel guilty and depressed for leaving Rick alone at the hospital, believing he wouldn't survive. While camping in the outskirts of the city, she found comfort with Shane, with whom she had a passionate night.[3]

In time, they gathered a camp with other survivors of Atlanta, where Shane acted as leader. Eventually, Rick woke up from his coma and, after a long and lonely trip from Cynthiana to Atlanta, he reunited with his wife and son.[4] This reunion logically caused a rift between Lori and Shane, because she returned to the arms of her husband, and pretended that her affair with Shane never happened, labeling it as a mistake.[5] This caused Shane to be consumed by jealousy, to the point of almost killing Rick to get Lori for himself. However, Carl shot and killed Shane before he could murder Rick.[6]

After lifting the camp, looking for a new place to settle down and live, Lori realized she was pregnant.[3] As the pregnancy progressed, the question of who was the real father, Shane or Rick, would always haunt them, and they never wanted to talk about it. Even when Lori tried to open up about her time with Shane, Rick, already knowing about their affair, refused to let her talk, accepting the baby as his own.[7]

Lori spent most of the pregnancy period inside the relative safety of the prison, which served as the group's temporary home. When the nine months passed, the new member of the Grimes family was born, and her name was Judith.[8] However, their happy life in the safety of the prison didn't last long, because at that time the group got involved in a war against Woodbury and its ferocious leader, The Governor. Woodbury's little army attacked multiple times the facility, trying to steal the prison for himself. During these attacks, many members of the group were slaughtered. Among the dead, unfortunately, were Lori and her baby. Lori, who was carrying Judith on her arms, received a lethal gunshot at her back that caused her to fall on top of the baby, suffocating her. Rick witnessed her death, but with tears in his eyes, he yelled at Carl to run forward and not look back.[9]
