  • Check the recent wiki activity and look at my messages to Una. What do you think?! Savage Dragon wikispaces merge maybe! I sent a message to Erik Larsen! THIS IS CRAZY!

    • Sorry, was out of town again until now. If Una trusts them he will, BUT, he doesn't know them, so they will need to make their intentions clear. I didn't offer me moderator until he saw my work here and knew what to expect from me. The same went for you, you were here a while before getting bumped up to moderator. I don't think there are other admins here but him.

    • Fair, but he can probably see their work on their wikispaces site, it has page histories like wikis do. Also... two of them have actually worked on Savage Dragon issues before... and one is Erik Larsen himself. I'd think to give them admin positions immediately if they asked for it, but you're right it's Una's decision.

  • Hey have you ever checked out the image template? As in the template to put on an image?

Check out File:Hand_to_Hand_001.jpg and hit the edit button. You'll see when you put character names in the subject1, 2, etc that it automatically adds it to the images page for that character Category:Anthony_Chu_(Chew)/Images.

So for example, you added File:Cheveyo_(East_of_West)_of_East_of_West_Vol1_02.jpg. This doesn't show up in Category:Cheveyo_(East_of_West)/Images because of that. So if you added the template it would automatically link images of that character to the respective character pages and you wouldn't have to maintain gallery pages. Usually Gallery is to show off key elements and outfits etc. Like a highlights reel.

Also, filling out that template will fill out the illustrator and colourists info too. So checking out Rob Guillory you can see all the images he's penciled or inked etc when their template is filled out.

Just thought I'd drop that tip in case you didn't know.

    • I meant to go back and fix that last night, but I teach on Monday and Thursday nights and by the time I was home, I just fell asleep in my chair. I will go back and make sure I got the other pix I uploaded recently.

    • Wait a minute, I fixed it, but either the link is bad or I'm doing something wrong.

  • Hey it looked like you were manually adding the category "Character Appearances" to pages where the template has it in inclusion. I was curious as to why?

I noticed it on Paneer Sharma/Appearances

      Loading editor
    • Probably because on the Archie Wiki it has to be put in manually & I got used to it. Sorry about that. I'll try to not do it again.

        Loading editor
    • No worries, yeah we bring that in the template. I'm lazy like that. Just here to answer questions or help when I can. Obviously when I can is super rare

    • I do it so much at Archie, I also did it by accident on a different wiki the other day. My bad.

  • Hey I was wondering if you wanted to help out with a project. I wanna make a second wikia account. Do you wanna help me make it? As in the name, pic, personal info which we'll completely make up, etc? I'm gonna do it anyway and I thought it'd be fun if you could do it with me and even share the account if ya want.

    • When editing (or creating a new character) you will notice in the upper right hand corner are two white tabs.  One is called Source and the other is Visual.  Click on the Source tab and you will see a whole row of tabs that do different things.

If you hover over each one of them, it will tell you what they do.

One of them in the middle that looks like a little person with brown hair and a blue shirt if the Character Template that you were looking for before.

Hope this helps, but let me know if you have questions.

  • Hey there, have you seen our image template?

    Hello!

Thank you for uploading new content to the Image Comics Database project!

We have lots of images in our database, 7,188 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.

    1. Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
      1. As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". We didn't always use Universe, so it's best to stay consistent with what existing characters use in your character line. Example: Spawn characters do not have a universe like "Al Simmons", while Chew does use a universe like "Anthony Chu (Chew)".
      2. Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
    2. Images should be no less than 300px wide, unless no bigger image is available.
    3. Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
    4. Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
    5. Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.

For a more in-depth guide, see Help:Image Template Hub. In addition, please take a moment to review our policies page and more specifically our image policy.

Questions can be directed to any of our admins, or asked on our forums.
