Shadowline was one of the founding studios of Image Comics, it was established by Jim Valentino in 1993 and known as the "non-line", publishing a number of independent black and white titles. During Valentino's tenure as the publisher of Image Comics, the studio was inactive. After Erik Larsen took over as the publisher, Shadowline was reactivated. Today, it publishes Jim Valentino's properties, as well as other creator-owned properties, for a total of no more than 5 titles per month.
