The world isn't logical, Mark. Also, trust me, this may start nice, but it's not headed anywhere good. Logical now means no war, world peace, everyone happy. But what happens when it isn't logical to keep the elderly alive, or sick children? What happens when it isn't logical to have such a large world population? I've been around a long time. This world is stupid and messy and nonsensical...and it needs to stay that way.

History

Most of the Immortal's origin is unknown, even to him. Sometime in his past over 3000 years ago, an accident happened to him that gave him his immortality and superhuman abilities. He would take up the duties of a knight possibly under King Arthur as Lancelot, an explorer under or possibly as Christopher Columbus in the Spanish Armada, fought in the American Revolution, became President of the United States by taking the alias of Abraham Lincoln, fought as a soldier in the World War I, and became a superhero in the 1930s. Sometime after becoming a superhero, he would meet Cecil Stedman and become one of the original members of the Guardians of the Globe..

Original Guardians

The Immortal had found Bi-Plane attempted to commit suicide to infect the Denver population. Immortal grabbed him and threw him into space, killing him. He got an urgent call from the Guardians base and headed to Utah. He stated the secret code and the confused Guardians looked at him as he had called them. The Guardians are killed by Nolan Grayson and Immortal witnesses him and says "I never liked you". He is decapitated and Omni-Man replies that the feeling is 'mutual'. The Immortal is buried along with the other Guardians. Some young men attempt to dug up his body, believing that drinking his blood will make them immortal as well. The Mauler twins stop them, taking his head to a lab. They revive him while attempting to enslave him. The beacon fails and Immortal flies out. He finds Nolan on a beach and attacks him, demanding to know why he killed the original Guardians. Nolan impales him and rips his torso in half. He would again be revived by doctors in the white room at the Pentagon. He would rejoin the Guardians of the Globe and have many adventures with them.

Reboot

The Immortal says "I never liked you" and Omni-Man replies "The feeling is MUTUAL" while seemingly killing him.

Years later, Mark touched a white light that put him back into his body at the time before he received his powers and with all of his memories. He attempted to talk to his father about not killing the Guardians of the Globe again. Nolan became angry and immediately attacked Mark. Mark led him to Utah where he tricked Nolan into smashing into the Guardians of the Globe headquarters where The Immortal and several others were located. Mark revealed Nolan's plans to the Guardians and they teamed up and subdued Nolan. During the battle, The Immortal had his heart punched out of him by Nolan. Cecil Stedmen soon arrived and agreed to bring Nolan back to the Pentagon and restrain him. The Immortal was revealed to have survived the attack.

Still later in the reboot, the Immortal and the original Guardians of the Globe take down the Lizard League. Even later, with the Teen Team, they defeat the Flaxans.

Five Years Later

Mark returns to his timeline, but five years after the events that occurred just before the reboot. Immortal is seen teaming up with Emperor Nolan, his Viltrumites (including Thula), Robot, and Tech Jacket to stop the Technicians.

Character Powers and Equipment

Powers and Abilities Powers Smart Atom DNA: Due to exposure to an unknown anomaly, the Immortal's body was enhanced well-beyond normal human limits, able to perform various superpowered feats. The Immortal is one of only three beings that has an equivalent power level to Viltrumites in terms of Smart Atom based DNA. Flight: The Immortal is able to mentally manipulate graviton particles around him to achieve the enviable gift of unaided flight. This ability ranges from levitation to high-speed movement in any posture or direction. The Immortal subconsciously has his smart atoms create a protective barrier during flight, protecting his clothing and any load from friction and the heat of orbital re-entry. "Immortality": As his name implies, the Immortal is beyond normal means of dying. Unable to actually age, he has lived for thousands of years and is still in his physical prime. Contaminant Immunity: The Immortal is immune to all poisons, toxins, venoms, viruses, bacteria, parasites, pathogens, allergen, etc. Self-Sustenance: The Immortal does not require nourishment, water, or oxygen. He can survive unaided indefinitely in the vacuum of outer space. Regeneration: Should the Immortal be injured somehow, he could regenerate any damaged or missing tissue. He can regrow organs and limbs in days. The Immortal could only die permanently through an injury that disperses a significant portion of his body's molecules. Resurrection: While still potentially able to be killed, his body does not decay, remaining perfectly preserved and even still physically healing. As long as any major parts of his body like his torso or head are reattached, he will ultimately regenerate and revive. Limited Invulnerability: The Immortal is made of Smart Atoms, which allow the exchange of energy between quantum foam and his molecules. These strong atomic bonds allow his flesh, while feeling much like human flesh, to withstand great impact forces, exposure to temperature and pressure extremes, and falls from great heights without sustaining physical injury. It takes a superhumanly powerful blow or a direct hit from an anti-tank missile to even give him pause. Superhuman Endurance: The Immortal can continue fighting after enduring damage that would permanently incapacitate an ordinary human. As long as his head remains connected to the majority of his body, he is alive and fully conscious. He has even survived having his heart destroyed, revealing that he doesn't need his heart to have consciousness. Superhuman Strength: The Immortal's strength is virtually incalculable, allowing him to lift colossal weights and contend with some of the most powerful beings in the universe, such as Omni-Man and Battle Beast. Superhuman Speed: The Immortal can mentally control the inertia of his smart atoms, allowing him to move his entire body at near-relativistic speeds through sheer force of will. His flight speed is sufficient for him to reach escape velocity within seconds, and he has proven capable of flying from Switzerland to New Zealand in less than 4 minutes. Superhuman Reflexes: The Immortal's reflexes and perceptions are enhanced in direct proportion to his movement speed, allowing him to perform complex high-velocity maneuvers with ease. He was capable of taking Omni-Man off-guard and landed several blows on the latter before he could react. Superhuman Stamina: The Immortal's musculature produces almost no fatigue toxins during physical activity. As a result, he possesses virtually limitless stamina. Abilities Military Training: The Immortal has been involved in countless wars during his millennia-long lifespan, making him a formidable tactician and strategist with a hundred lifetimes of experience to call upon. Hand-to-Hand Combat: Over his centuries of existence, Immortal has honed his combat skills, making him a highly proficient hand-to-hand combatant. Leadership: Immortal has also demonstrated leadership skills, having been a member of the Guardians of the Globe, a superhero team in the "Invincible" universe. Weaknesses Vulnerability to Insanity: Because of Immortal's inability to die, he can be vulnerable to insanity. This is shown when he begins killing people in hope that someone will finally kill him. Through the many years, he would grow detached from the human race. External Dependency: If Immortal's head or torso is separated from his body, he will remain in a catatonic state but not truly dead . Paraphernalia Equipment None notable.
